The 49ers will look to continue what has been a dream season on Thursday night as they travel to the desert in Arizona to take on first overall draft pick Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cards enter the contest with a mark of 3-4, while the Niners will look to get their perfect season to the halfway point at 8-0.
Here are a quick three keys to the Niners keeping their undefeated streak intact tonight.
1. Pressure Murray
There’s no doubt that Kyler Murray has shown what it takes to be a quality NFL QB in his first season, and the Niners can’t allow him to get off to a quick start.
He’s also shown that under the right amount of pressure he can be had with interceptions and bad throws. The Niners pass rush led by Nick Bosa has to get to him, make some plays, and watch the pressure overwhelm him.
Otherwise, Murray could have success trying to go downfield against the Niners secondary if given time in the pocket.
2. Make the Cards a Pass Only Team
The Cards are in deep waters when it comes to trying to run the football with players that have had little to no experience on Thursday night.
With David Johnson out along with Chase Edmonds, the team will lean on just traded for Kenyan Drake, along with Alfred Morris and Zach Zenner to try and run the ball.
Kliff Kingsbury will look to keep the Niners defense honest with trying to establish a run game, but if the Niners can shut it down early, it will make stopping Murray that much easier as the game goes.
3. Break Their Streak
The Cardinals are actually not playing like a team throwing out a rookie QB and a ton of you players, as they have had no turnovers over the past four games, which is tied for the longest streak in franchise history.
You have to give them credit as they are keeping the ball in their hands, and while they were beat up 31-9 by the Saints last week, their three-game win streak leading up to it showed how this young team has played pretty well.
The Niners have been ball hawks the whole season, and tonight forcing some short fields can help them secure a big win on the road.
