Monday the Niners found a backup after moving QB Alex Smith, as the team acquired QB Colt McCoy from Cleveland for a late round draft choice.
The news was broken by to NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora.
McCoy in his three-year career with the Browns, played in 24 games and accounted for 22 touchdowns against 26 turnovers (6 fumbles). He has a 74.8 career passer rating.
Last season with Brandon Weeden coming aboard as the starter, the QB threw just 17 passes, Weeden, who is three years older than McCoy, threw for 3,385 yards and 14 touchdowns with 17 interceptions, posting a 72.6 passer rating.
