Niners DC Manusky interviewing for Chargers position

It looks as if both the Offensive and Defensive Coordinators for the Niners in 2010 will not be back with the team in 2011.

As was reported earlier, OC Mike Johnson is bolting the Niners to become the OC at UCLA. He probably would not have retained that role with the Niners anyways since Jim Harbaugh was likely to have someone else at the position.

Now, it appears that Greg Manusky will be making his way south to San Diego. He is being interviewed by the Chargers to possibly become their next Defensive Coordinator. The position became vacant when Ron Rivera was hired by the Carolina Panthers to become their next head coach. Manusky also had interviewed for the same position with the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys earlier in the week.

So, it will be interesting to see what names pop up as the Niners may be in the search for a new DC. Harbaugh’s DC at Stanford, Vic Fangio, likely will get a look. He has extensive NFL experience and would definitely make the Niners defense one of the most respected in the league.
