Quick Recap and Thoughts on 49ers-Chiefs game

Well, if you thought it couldn’t get any worse than the Week 1 beating. It did.

The Kansas City Chiefs beat the 49ers 31-10, with the Niners making it a three-possession game with a last-second TD.

From start to finish, the Niners offense had nothing going for them. However, the Chiefs, a team with a suspect passing game, threw the ball at will against the defense in addition to their running game.

Chiefs QB Matt Cassel, coming into the game with a 55.8 passer rating, was 16 for 27 with 250 yards, 3 touchdowns, and an interception. His counterpart, Alex Smith completed 23 of his 42 passes for 232 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

The Chiefs played well on defense, but truth is, the 49ers made it easy for them with their ineptitude on offense.

What’s next? I know plenty of fans are calling for an overhaul, from top to bottom. Is it necessary? Not exactly. Part of me tells me there should be….. right now. The other part of me tells me that it would probably do no good to change things now. While the beginning of this season has been a complete disaster, there are still 13 games left, and even though things are looking bleak now, you never know what can happen.

Anyways, I need to gather my thoughts and let this sink in a little bit before I start venting. Expect more on the state of the 49ers tomorrow.
