Balmer Traded to the Seahawks

The Westbrook signing also comes on the same day the 49ers traded disgruntled 2008 first round pick Kentwan Balmer to the Seattle Seahawks for an undisclosed draft pick, (thought to be a sixth rounder originally).

Balmer, who was converted from a five technique defensive tackle to a 3-4 defensive end, will revert back to his old position with Seattle, who run a 4-3 defense.

If he can show any flash of what scouts gave him first round grades for, the Seahawks will have sufficiently in fluxed depth on the inside along with off season addition Kevin Vickerson.

Balmer recently went AWOL at 49ers camp, citing the need to solve some personal issues.

These personal issues turned out to be the fact he was a member of the 49ers, as he paid them $80,000 to facilitate and escape from the Bay Area.

I don’t think this trade had anything to do with Scott McCloughans arrival in the Seahawks front office…
