Niners draft history- 2000(2nd 1st round pick)

2000

With the 24th pick in the 2000 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Ahmed Plummer, defensive back out of Ohio State University. Plummer played all six of his NFL seasons with the 49ers, but was forced to retire because of multiple injuries. In those six seasons, Plummer collected 267 tackles, 12 interceptions, 69 passes defensed and a touchdown. In his first four seasons, Plummer missed only 3 games. In his last two seasons, Plummer missed 23 games. That goes to show how devastating his injuries were. He started 68 of the 70 games he played for the 49ers as a Left Cornerback. He retired in June 2006.

  1. American football is certainly a physical sport. Sprained ligaments, strained muscle, fractures, torn cartilage, nerve injuries are just examples of the most common injuries a player could get. Consequently, this may possibly hinder ones athletic performance and further ruin somebody’s career.
