With the 7th pick in the 1994 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Bryant Young, defensive lineman, out of the University of Notre Dame. Young would go on to have a fabulous career in the NFL. Young played 14 seasons, all with the 49ers. In his time in San Francisco, the Chicago native would win the NFL NFC Rookie of the Year, be a four time Pro Bowl selection, and a member of the 49ers’ Super Bowl XXIX winning team. Young would amass 89.5 sacks, 12 forced fumbles, 512 tackles, and 3 safeties in his career. Young also started every one of his games while in San Francisco. I can’t help but think how many more Super Bowls the 49ers would win if they had selected Michael Strahan the year before. Then again, maybe they would not have picked Young had they had Strahan on their roster. Nonetheless, each man would go on to have nice NFL careers and be on Super Bowl winning teams. Young is now the Defensive Line Coach at San Jose State University.
