Niners draft history- 1984


(The 49ers did not have any first round picks in the 1982 and 1983 NFL Drafts)

With the 24th pick in the 1984 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Todd Shell, linebacker, out of Brigham Young University. Shell played a total of 4 seasons in the NFL with the 49ers in which he recorded 7 sacks in 38 games.  Shell added 5 interceptions to his resume, returning one of them for a touchdown in his rookie season. Shell who won two Super Bowls with the 49ers in the early 80’s was arrested in 2005 for possessing cocaine.
