Niners draft history- 1980 (2nd first round pick)

In the 1980 NFL Draft, the 49ers also had the 20th pick, and with that selection they drafted Jim Stuckey, a defensive tackle, out of Clemson University. Stuckey spent all of his seven seasons with the 49ers, splitting his last with the Jets . Stuckey recorded 3 recovered fumbles and a safety in his playing days. Just like the previous two first round draft selections ahead of him, Stuckey would win two Super Bowls with the 49ers. In the 1981 NFC Title game versus the Dallas Cowboys, Stuckey sealed the victory with a fumble recovery. But, that is obscure to 49ers fan as it followed the possession that we simply call “The Catch”. If Stuckey does not recover this fumble, perhaps the Cowboys would have had time to stage a comeback and beat the 49ers. All they would have needed to win the game was a field goal. The Niners escaped with a 28-27 victory.
