Niners draft history- 1974

With the 9th pick in the 1974 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Wilbur Jackson, running back out of the University of Alabama.  The first African-American to be offered a scholarship to play football for Alabama, Jackson would spend 8 seasons in the NFL; five with the 49ers, and the last three with the Washington Redskins. In his time with San Francisco, he rushed for 2,955 yards and 10 touchdowns, adding 1,233 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. Jackson’s statistics suggest that he was only a factor in his first season with the Redskins.
