Shortly after selecting Wilbur Jackson with the 9th pick in the draft, the 49ers selected Bill Sandifer with the 10th pick. Sandifer, a defensive lineman was a product of UCLA, and played in the league for 5 seasons; the last two with the Seattle Seahawks. He would recover 4 fumbles in 30 games played with the 49ers. During the 1975 and 1976 seasons, the seasons in which Sandifer played the most; the 49ers’ opponents averaged 125.5 rushing yards on the ground. It is unknown to me why Sandifer left the 49ers for the Seahawks. Sandifer, was drafted by Dick Nolan’s staff, and played 2 seasons for that regime. In 1976, Monte Clark coached the 49ers. Perhaps the system implemented by that coaching staff did not suit Sandifer. There are no stats detailing his days with the Seahawks.
