Niners draft history- 1967 (2nd pick in 1st round)

With the 11th pick in the 1967 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Casimir Joseph “Cas” Banaszek, a tight end out of Northwestern University. Banaszek would get injured in his rookie year and transition to the right tackle position for the 49ers for the next 9 seasons. Banaszek played opposite Len Rhode on a 49ers team that lead the NFL in points scored in 1970 and the NFC in 1972. Pundits have Banaszek as one the 49ers’ top offensive tackles of all time.
