With the 8th pick in the 1958 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers selected Jim Pace, halfback, from the University of Michigan. That pick however did not amount to anything as Pace would only play the 1958 season with the 49ers. In that season, his rushing totals were 52 carries for 161 yards and 2 touchdowns. He caught 10 passes for 59 yards and returned 8 kicks for 134 yards (16.8 avg). He moved on after that season to play for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League and stayed there until 1953. Upon his retirement, Pace became an administrative assistant, and a football scout for Oakland. Pace would die at the age of 47 in 1983.
