RB Thomas Clayton Leaves Denver Game w/ Right Knee Sprain

49ers running back Thomas Clayton sprained his right knee early in the fourth quarter of the team’s exhibition opener against the Broncos on Friday night.

Clayton, who was in the running to make the roster as a backup to Frank Gore, was tripped up by cornerback Jack Williams and awkwardly twisted his knee. He was down for several minutes before being carted off.

Clayton raised his left finger to the fans while being taken off the field, grimacing in pain.
