The 49ers placed defensive end Ray McDonald on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. He still counts on the 80-man roster, but he cannot practice because he hasn’t passed a physical examination. The 49ers also released guard Matt Huners.

The SF Chronicle reports that the Niners have inked draft pick QB Nate Davis:
Quarterback Nate Davis became the fifth of the 49ers’ seven draft picks to sign when he put his name to a four-year contract Friday. That leaves top pick Michael Crabtree and third-rounder Glen Coffee unsigned with a Tuesday reporting deadline for rookies.
