Alex Smith Doubtful for Today

Alex Smith is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals as he is battling another problem with his surgically-repaired right shoulder.

Smith will consult with Dr. James Andrews, the renowned surgeon who worked on Smith’s right shoulder last December.

This is obviously bad news for the former No. 1 overall pick, who hasn’t been able to get his career back on-track since ex-offensive coordinator Norv Turner left to become the Chargers’ head coach between the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Running back Michael Robinson, who played quarterback at Penn State, will be the emergency quarterback for the Niners on Sunday.
