Niners Sign OT Joe Toledo

The 49ers signed tackle Joe Toledo as a backup on Tuesday. Toledo, who was drafted in the fourth round in 2006 by the Dolphins, is expected to provide some measure of depth for a thin offensive line.
Toledo was released by the Dolphins in February, picked up by the Packers for a few months and was subsequently released by Green Bay last week.
Here’s an interesting tidbit: Toledo’s father is a member of the U.S. Secret Service. Hopefully Toledo can provide a comparable measure of protection.
In other Niners news, ex-Raider offensive lineman Barry Sims visited with the 49ers on Monday. He is speaking with other teams as well…tackle Qasim Mitchell, a free agent signing, was waived by the 49ers…second-year safety Dashon Goldson has been receiving additional practice time due to Mark Roman (shoulder surgery) and Shawntae Spencer (hip flexor) missing practice time.
