49ers sign DT; Article on 49ers new GM

Kevin Lynch of the San Francisco Chronicle reported two days ago that the 49ers signed defensive tackle Walter Curry to a contract. Curry, who checks in at 6-4 and 275 pounds, was signed by the Ravens in 2005 after playing at Albany State. Curry proceeded to move to the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he spent three years on the practice squad.

In a related story, the Santa Rosa Press Democrat ran a profile on new 49ers GM Scott McCloughan (Mc-Clew-an). Among the facts learned: McCloughan is 35, is a self-anointed football nerd (“Big time. Big time”), likes to keep the lights off in his office (“I’m a creature of the dark”), can’t remember the names of his neighbors, and admits he is “not highly intelligent.” Looking forward to him reshaping the team!
