Wenke Could Start At QB For 49′ers
Posted by Matt Loede on December 27th, 2007 filed in NewsWith quarterback Shaun Hill missing Wednesday’s practice due to back spasms, recently acquired Chris Wenke could get the start as the San Francisco 49ers wrap up the regular season this Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Hill suffered the back injury during the first half of last weekend’s victory against Tampa Bay and head coach Mike Nolan said he would consider Hill “questionable” for the game in Cleveland. “It happened late in the first half, so the whole second half was pretty unconfortable,” said Hill on the 49ers web-site. Nolan then added that if Hill can’t practice today, he’s hopeful that he could at least get some reps on Friday. Meanwhile, Wenke took the snaps with the first-team unit yesterday. Wenke was brought in two weeks ago after Trent Dilfer suffered a concussion in the team’s December 9th loss to Minnesota.
