San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Nolan missed his second consecutive practice to tend to family matters, according to the Associated Press. No reason was given, but it is known that Nolan’s father, former 49ers head coach Dick Nolan, is in declining health with Alzheimer’s disease and prostate cancer and currently living in an assisted living facility in the Dallas, TX area.
Nolan returned to the Bay Area on Saturday shortly after the 49ers wrapped up their workout in preparation for the Monday night game against the Seattle Seahawks. Assistant coach Mike Singletary, who ran the practices in Nolan’s absence, told the AP, “I told him, ‘Hey, just do what you have to do. We’ll be fine here, and when he gets back, we’ll be ready to rock.”
